Margaret started dancing at the age of 8 at the Barton School of Dancing and then when Mary Barton emigrated she continued dancing with the Mar-Eli School of Dancing, Aileen Robertson School of Highland Dancing and Brenda McCourt School of Dancing.
Margaret competed in majorette competitions and was Junior Scottish Champion 3 times – she also competed in highland competitions.
After gaining her teaching qualifications with The British Association Teachers of Dancing and The Scottish Baton Twirling Association Margaret started a dance class in 1983 as a hobby on a Saturday afternoon for an hour with 8 girls and the school has grown to one of the biggest in Kilmarnock over the years.
